Homage Noble Lady Tara!

The following elaboration of Tara Shedrup's mission comes through the divine inspiration of the Supreme and Perfect Noble One, Buddha in female form, Wisdom Mother Tara.

Purpose and Scope of Activities

Tara Shedrup will provide the necessary supports and conditions for the study and practice of the Buddhadharma, as well as provide the necessary supports for the translation of Dharma texts and teachings. Tara Shedrup will make available the teachings of the Buddha, Noble Tara and other enlightened female and male masters in the Lineage. In addition, Tara Shedrup's mission pays homage specifically to Tara's previous life as a princess, during which she engaged in endless activities to greatly benefit others in whatever way was needed. In homage to this previous life of Tara, Tara Shedrup will engage in community charitable and philanthropic activities conducted in accords with Buddhist teachings and practices. Thus, Tara Shedrup's purpose will be to help create the favorable causes and conditions for the enlightenment and freedom of suffering, relative and ultimate, of limitless sentient beings.

Open and All Embracing Approach

  • Tara Shedrup will help foster harmony, cooperation, and collaboration between other Buddhist Dharma centers, as well as other religious organizations in general, in both its study and practice of the Buddhadharma, social welfare projects, and educational programs as deemed appropriate.
  • Tara Shedrup's intention also will be to take an open and inclusive approach to its activities and participants, such as the following examples:
      • 1.) Tara Shedrup will invite participation in charitable activities from other Buddhist Dharma centers,
      2.) Tara Shedrup will help sponsor dharma teachings and social projects in cooperation with other Dharma centers or religious organizations not just limited to the local area (Hartford), but in other cities as well,
      3.) Tara Shedrup will seek participation and collaboration with other religious organizations in already existing charitable projects, religious and educational programs, and other beneficial activities for the community, and
      4.) Tara Shedrup will invite qualified and authorized Buddhist teachers.

Three Scopes of Activities

Buddha Dharma teachings and practices of enlightened female and male masters; Compassion in Action: contemplative healing/psychology; and community outreach; Tara Arts: original creations reflecting spiritual traditions and practices.

May the Noble Wisdom Mother Tara's all embracing wisdom, compassion and unconditional love liberate limitless sentient beings without exception!
