Event Name: TEACHING PROGRAM - Mahamudra: The Natural Mind
Date: August 9, 2007
Time: Friday, August 10, 2-4 p.m.; 7-9 p.m. AND Saturday, August 11, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; 2:30-5 p.m..
Place: Asylum Hill Congregational Church, Twitchell Hall814 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut
Cost: $100/$90 Seniors & Students/$85 HKTC Members. Single sessions: $30/$27 Seniors & Students/$25 HKTC Members
Description: Mahamudra has been the renowned practice of the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism for 1,000 years. It is taught that the ground of Mahamudra is the natural state of the mind, luminous, spacious, unhindered, and free from dualistic concepts. The path of Mahamudra is the disciplined practices passed from teacher to student to purify the temporary confused state of mind (that takes things to be solid and permanent) including the practices of calm-abiding and deep insight. The fruition of Mahamudra is the realization of the unchanging natural state of the mind. With an infectious joy and sense of humor, Mingyur Rinpoche helps students bring Mahamudra closer to their experience. These sessions are highly recommended to beginners and seasoned students who seriously think about practicing meditation. You are likely to learn that meditation can and should be a joyful experience, that struggle is unnecessary, and that it can be incorporated into your daily life. This will be Mingyur Rinpoche's next-to-last teaching in North America this year.
